“Climategate a Game Changer”

Category : Climategate, Environmental Issues, Global Warming

Absolutely nothing new was uncovered in Climategate. Read Meltdown (2004), by Patrick Michaels, and Climate of Extremes (2009), by Balling and Michaels. It’s all in there: the distortion, “secrecy”, and control of raw data; the manipulation of scientific studies to make sure the results were supportive of the global warming paradigm; the on-going campaign to keep “anti” studies out of the literature; the complicity of the media in preventing a balanced discussion; the enormous financial incentives that flow to educational institutions and other think tanks; the planned personal attacks on “enemies” of climate change with the intent of destroying careers; the benefits that flow to politicians who support the climate change movement, including even the Nobel prize; etc. This was all common knowledge;  to even casual observers.

I suppose the fact that the scientific community was caught admitting all this made Climategate the big story. It is sad that the mainstream media had committed all its resources protecting these “scientists” and fighting for climate change legislation rather than fighting for the truth. No guts, no glory – and no reason to exist. Continue Reading

“Adjusting” the Temperature Data

Category : Climategate, Data Distortion, Environmental Issues, Global Warming, Temperature Data

Why Scientists Get it Wrong is taken from a book by David Archibald, The Past and Future of Climate. This short abstract lists some of the climate-gate quotes and includes some interesting graphs.

There are legitimate reasons to adjust temperature data. However, what we find over and over again is that scientists intentionally adjust data far beyond what would be fair and logical, in order to support global warming theory. The theory is crucial.  High paying jobs, prestige, reputation, and money all depend of on maintaining this mythology. Two examples data manipulation follow, but there are dozens more. Continue Reading

Christopher Booker, The Global Warming Alarmists

Category : Climategate, Data Distortion, Global Warming

The “alarmists” still get most of the press, but the tide is turning.  Prior to the last five months, reports such as the following global warming critique were never printed in the mainstream media. The lies and fraud were known (I wrote a detailed report about them for Reel Time readers, in 2007), but no one seemed to care.

An excerpt from this excellent review by Christopher Booker follows, and then the link that takes you to the full story in the Vancouver Sun.

The chief defence offered by the warmists to all those revelations Continue Reading

Global Warming Theory – Consistently Inconsistent

Category : Climategate, Data Distortion, Global Warming

The mainstream media makes sure we understand that global warming theory predicts whatever kind of weather or temperature trend takes place. If there are lots of hurricanes or few hurricanes, if there is rain or drought, if there are stronger storms or weaker storms, global warming predicts them all. We even have a minority of global warming scientists who claim that global warming (they say climate change these days) will cause cold weather (up to 30 years) before it causes catastrophic warming. This week we have learned that global warming is consistent with heavy snow across America. All this has encouraged us to add another absolute truth to our list today. This will be number four.

There is a basic requirement of science that seems to have been “lost” these days; like the temperature data that global warming scientists were gate-keepers for. That lost requirement is that…

Climate Change: Science or Politics?

Category : Climategate, Global Warming, Media

The major U.S. networks refuse to cover Climategate so we go north of the border to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Centre) for the story. Liberal as the CBC is, it is less inclined to censor the news that ABC, CBS, and NBC. The attached video, Climate Change: Science or Politics , is less than four minutes long and is well worth the time.

Global warming is a fascinating subject, and one the greatest cons ever perpetrated. One of the reasons the con works so well is that much of western society (including academia, major media, and government bureaucracies) already believes that industrialization is the enemy. Since the theory of global warming reinforced a belief system already in place, it was welcomed with open arms. We will have much more later.
