“Adjusting” the Temperature Data

Category : Climategate, Data Distortion, Environmental Issues, Global Warming, Temperature Data

Why Scientists Get it Wrong is taken from a book by David Archibald, The Past and Future of Climate. This short abstract lists some of the climate-gate quotes and includes some interesting graphs.

There are legitimate reasons to adjust temperature data. However, what we find over and over again is that scientists intentionally adjust data far beyond what would be fair and logical, in order to support global warming theory. The theory is crucial.  High paying jobs, prestige, reputation, and money all depend of on maintaining this mythology. Two examples data manipulation follow, but there are dozens more. Continue Reading

The Foundation of Global Warming Rests on Data Distortion

Category : Data Distortion, Global Warming, Temperature Data

Disagreement over temperature trends is central to the entire debate.  Some global warming advocates claim that the earth has continued to warm in the ‘00s, but you have to selectively choose how to measure temperature to arrive at that conclusion – more on this, and specifically NASA, at another time. Most non-climate scientists, such as Professor Carter, the author of our Blog’s Weekly Feature, agree that temperatures peaked in 1998 and have been trending lower since then.

It is growing more obvious, however, that fraud is another major reason for global temperature disagreements. New revelations of fraud and misapplication of the scientific method are being reported virtually every day in the mainstream media. Continue Reading

Where is the Evidence for Dangerous Human-Caused Global Warming

Category : Data Distortion, Global Warming, Temperature Data, Weekly Feature

Those who support global warming legislation claim that science has proven the dangers of global warming… but the absolute truth is something else.

There are a number of web sites that track lists of scientists who believe that the evidence for dangerous man-made global warming is not convincing.  Hundreds of these scientists signed a petition that went to congress during hearings in 2009 and those invited also spoke before congress. Wikipedia also maintains its own list.  The Petition Project has a list of 31,000 scientists in opposition to the Kyoto agreement.  Although I have no way of knowing if this list is valid, it is interesting.

In fact, it is absolutely clear that there is no consensus. Well, actually, there is a consensus among the scientists (and often their Universities) who reap enormous financial benefits from this issue.  Most other scientists, however, do not believe that global warming is a dangerous issue that requires drastic measures to reduce carbon emissions.

What we have for you in this post is a reputable scientist, writing an article in the scientific literature, that is highly critical of the “science” of global warming.  It is all here in this report; the bias, the bad data, the politics, etc. I strongly urge you to click on the link that follows and read, Where is the Evidence for Human-Caused Global Warming, (and Slides Global Warming),  by Professor Robert Carter. Carter is an Australian marine biologist who studies paleoclimate.   It is not a short article, but print it out, and take time to read it.  Then send the link to anyone you talk with who suggests that the issue is settled and that science is supportive of dangerous man-made global warming.  (Just to be clear,  there are two PDF’s above.  Both are great.  There is very interesting data in the slides.)
